She was soo excited (and she's 28!) about seeing the eagle. She'd seen the nest but didn't know what type of bird it was for. She almost ran off the road she was so excited! Being "awake" and conscious enough to recognize those moments is so important. You are so right about the little things in life. They are what makes life so special as a whole. Tonight as I was cooking supper I was watching our resident mallard family eating cracked corn in the front yard. Just at dusk the cardinal family showed up too and then as quickly as they came they flew away. But I know they will be back tomorrow. As I write this at 1:00AM in the morning in my peaceful quiet house I can hear the pinkletinks in the swamp in the back yard and I feel so content with life. I spent far too much time as a young adult wondering why I didn't have this guy or that piece of furniture or whatever. I now choose to focus my attention elsewhere and it makes me so much happier. Funny how that works. @Wendy - I forget all the time, really, which is kinda why I wrote this post. To remind myself. That headband on Elise is a cheap $1 item from Target and she absolutely LOVES it. She wears it all the time. And I think your desert and laptop on your blog is perfect too! @Laura...
