Thank you for visiting my blog. Don't be discouraged about not being able to follow a pattern. Some patterns are just hard to follow and some are actually wrong. I've known incredible seamstresses to find mistakes in some of the patterns that you can buy, and they learn to work around it. Don't despair. Perhaps try something like quilting too. How wonderful that you found a real enjoyment - I think sewing is fantastic *except I cannot follow a pattern (tried it once w/ the assistance of my sister- and no, not for me, too confusing - like reading another language). I made my husband buy me a sewing machine for making small repairs and he teases me because I never use it, it's collecting dust in the basement. It was weird. You know that feeling when you wonder if you have dreamt the time or really lived through it! It brought back so many memories of the past. I started remembering going on the boat with your Mum and Dad and getting stuck on a sandbar. Your Dad had to get under the boat to move it off - do you remember?
