Seattle’s Third Fastest Chihuahua 2007

May 19, 2007

We interrupt your normal programming to bring you this special announcement. Today, Trixie the Pixie  competed in Petco’s search for America’s Fastest Chihuahua and placed third making her the third fastest chihuahua in all of Seattle. Heats were held in several major cities this weekend, including Seattle. There were between 200 and 300 chihuahuas in Kirkland, Washington today, not to mention additional pets that weren’t competing (like our Daisy May and Lily.) Can you imagine 200 little doggies all in one place?

Now for the photos of the chihuahua fest.

This is heat one. Trixie is in the far right shoot – hard to see.

Here I am leaning over the edge trying to get her to come back and go towards the goal line. All the dogs in this heat just wandered around the start line. The Petco employee standing on the side there was a bit in the way. I had to pick up Trixie three times before she finally started heading the right way.

Finally, Trixie sees a doggie bed that looks like hers. (That’s Trixie in the very center of the photo.)

She followed it to the goal line and won the heat moving her to the semi finals.

No, I’m not fat, that’s Daisy May and her blanket in my jacket. Although the sun was out, it was extremely windy and still cold.

Now for the semi-finals. Here I am trying to get Trixie to pay attention to her mommy. You can just see my daughter’s arm in the right of the picture in the pink sweater. Trixie is clearly more interested in the fluffy Pappillon looking boy next to her. Flirt.

Ready, set…

Petco! (what the ref said.)

And we are in the winner’s circle. Stacy and Trixie won third place.

Prize was a $25 gift card to Petco. Where else?

Here’s the winning pup. I’m happy for the young girl that she gets to go with her mom to San Diego for the finals, but the pup had somewhat of an unfair advantage having a strong mix of greyhound in her. But we really don’t have a resentment because it’s all fun and games.

And these were our favorite spectators.

My oldest daughter and grandson came up to join in the festivities. My grandson just loved holding Lily during the entire event and stroked her head so lovingly.

All the excitement was jut too much for them both.

I had seen a blurb on TV about the chihuahua race and thought of you and your/DD’s 3 pups and then here you are actually in the race. Very cool!! Congrats to Trixie for her 3rd place finish. Looks like a very fun day!

What a riot! I bet my 100 pound Labrador would have a ball there with so many toys to play with!

That looked like great fun! Does Trixie know she’s a winner? I think she needs a new outfit for that accomplishment, don’t you? 🙂

Oh how fun! Congrats! The photos are adorable. I would never get Sophia to stay focused with all of the other doggies around.
