Stress Relief

June 28, 2007

Today was a good day.

I work with a great group of people, all usability specialists. This means that they are always checking out new – and fun – things. Emphasis on the fun. We get frequent YTVOTD emails. Huh, you ask? “You Tube Video of the Day”. Often they are spoofs on Bill Gates, Microsoft Vista, Apple Computer, or a Saturday Night Live skit.

Today the email was about 3D Messenger. If you haven’t heard of it, let me educate you:

This is freakin’ hilarious.

We signed up immediately and my next-cube neighbor and I were sending messages back and forth and I was laughing so hard tears were rolling. I haven’t laughed so hard in a loooooong time.

Here’s my avatar from

I gotta say, this is exactly how I feel inside. In my head I look just like this. Somday not too far off, fantasy will match reality.

The trick with this messenger thing is yes, its novelty, graphics, and interactivity, but the creators are really, really smart. You purchase your name for $7.95 and then if you want extra, more adult interactions (don’t ask me, I didn’t subscribe) you pay a nominal fee, I presume. You also purchase extra clothing, accessories, and I suspect room decor. Definitely a new take on nickeling and diming people, but I am positive it will be highly successful. There are so many people out there that will purchase the little extras.

Seriously though – even for the free version, I highly recommend it for a day full of laughs, or longer.
